Lucinda Everett

Creative Consultant and Journalist

I’ve been in the word-nerd game for 17 years now. I started out in marketing but, when I found myself doing more department running than writing, I defected to journalism. I worked on The Telegraph’s arts desk as a commissioning editor and writer (with copywriting as my trusty side hustle). But 10 years ago, I hung up my lanyard and have been happily freelance ever since.

As a journalist, I review theatre for WhatsOnStage, and write features for publications like The Telegraph, The Independent, the BBC, and The Guardian, where I’m also a freelance sub-editor. As a creative consultant, I develop messaging and tones of voice for brands, write and edit copy, and design and run training about writing (and sometimes wellbeing).

Working solo or with long-time agency friends, I’ve helped B2B and B2C brands across all kinds of sectors – clients like BT, HSBC, Unilever, Mercedes, Aviva, Virgin Active, and Dishoom.

I’m also (last job title, I promise) a theatre maker with a Masters in playwriting and directing from RADA, which comes in handy when crafting stories, scripts and speeches for brands. And I’ve got a BA in English from Leeds University, and an Advanced Diploma in Cultural Studies from The Sorbonne. But don’t be fooled by that last one – I mostly just sat by the Seine and ate cheese.
